Keyboard anti-hack hack

Here’s a top tip for when you next choose a password: include a regional sign. Regional passwords are harder to crack.

For example, if you are based in the UK consider using a £ sign, which does not appear on US keyboards and so is missing from many rainbow tables.

Regional passwords

The downside is that if you find yourself using a non-UK keyboard you might struggle to log in.

To avoid problems memorise the Alt codes for any special symbols you use. So if you want to use the § symbol hold down the Alt key and type 21 on the num lock pad.

Using regional passwords reduces the chances that bad guys can work them out.
